Alongside privacy policy
Alongside stores epilepsy-related records locally and syncs them through your private iCloud database across supported devices signed in to the same Apple Account. It has no developer-operated account, advertising, tracking or health-data analytics.
What the studio collects
Alongside does not send care profiles, health events, medication records, check-ins, care plans, contacts, notes or exports to Stack Trace Studios. When iCloud sync is available, the app transmits records to Apple’s CloudKit service for storage in your private iCloud database. Stack Trace Studios does not operate an app user or health-record database and does not receive the contents of those private records through Alongside. If you choose to email support, the studio receives the email address, message and attachments you send. Visiting this policy also gives the website host the ordinary request data needed to deliver and secure the page.
How records are stored and synced
Alongside stores profile names and optional dates of birth; self-management or caregiver mode and optional supporter details; event types, times, durations, awareness, recovery, context, rescue-medication use, injury and emergency-response entries, notes and recorder details; medication names, dosages, instructions, schedules, reminder preferences and dose records; daily sleep, stress, mood, illness and medication-adherence check-ins; user-entered care-plan instructions and care contacts; and app preferences locally on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Vision Pro. Local copies use Apple platform data protection. With iCloud available, SwiftData synchronizes the record store through your private database in iCloud.com.OMAR.Alongside to supported devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Alongside marks health and identity fields for CloudKit encryption, which encrypts those values on the device before upload. Initial sync can take time, and changes made offline sync after service returns. Scheduled local-notification requests and some prompt or device preferences remain device-specific. Deleting a profile hides it immediately and creates a synced deletion marker; the deletion remains queued for other devices until an iCloud upload succeeds, and delayed records covered by that marker are removed. Deleting the app from one device removes that local app container but does not by itself delete the private iCloud copy or copies already synchronized to other devices. A JSON file you export contains sensitive health information, is not encrypted and becomes a separate copy controlled through its destination. A device backup is also a separate copy controlled through its destination.
iCloud sync and Apple system services
Core logging, journal, insights, care-plan and local-reminder features continue using the local store without a developer-operated server. CloudKit contacts Apple to synchronize records through your private iCloud database; iCloud sign-in and availability are required, and first or resumed sync can take time. StoreKit can contact Apple to load product information, purchase or verify an optional Premium subscription or consumable tip, restore subscription access and determine eligibility for an introductory offer. Apple’s native rating or review action can contact Apple. A file provider can use the network when you choose to export to or share through that service, and support, privacy, terms or email links open external services only when you choose them. Alongside does not upload health records to Stack Trace Studios.
Third parties
The app embeds no advertising, analytics, attribution or third-party crash-reporting SDK. Apple processes private CloudKit records, App Store transactions, entitlements, subscription status and rating or review interactions under its own terms. Alongside marks health and identity fields for CloudKit encryption, and Apple encrypts those values on the device before upload. Third-party app data in iCloud is encrypted in transit and on Apple’s servers. With Advanced Data Protection enabled for the Apple Account, CloudKit encrypted fields are end-to-end encrypted; Alongside does not claim that condition for every account. Stack Trace Studios receives App Store sales reporting, not the health records stored in your private CloudKit database. A file or sharing service you select processes the unencrypted exported copy you give it. Cloudflare delivers this website, and Google processes email sent to the published support address. Stack Trace Studios does not sell or use app data for advertising or tracking.
Children
Alongside is designed primarily for adults managing their own epilepsy and for parents or caregivers supporting another person. It is not directed to children under 13, does not create a developer-operated account and does not collect health records through a studio-operated service. A parent or caregiver is responsible for entering only information they are authorized to keep and synchronize through the Apple Account using the app.
Your rights
You control Alongside records through its profile deletion and JSON export controls. When iCloud is available, record deletions synchronize to other supported devices signed in to the same Apple Account and may take time to appear. Deleting the app from one device removes its local copy but does not by itself delete the private iCloud copy; use the in-app deletion controls while signed in, allow synchronization to complete and verify other devices before relying on deletion. An exported JSON file contains sensitive health information, is not encrypted and becomes a copy controlled through its location or service. A separate device backup is also controlled through its destination. Stack Trace Studios cannot access, correct or export records in your private CloudKit database. For a support email or other information you voluntarily send to the studio, you may ask what is still held or request deletion, subject to applicable legal obligations. Requests can be sent to the contact address below.
Changes
